The Las Vegas Strip and its surrounding areas are loaded with almost every type of entertainment to complement the wall-to-wall casino gambling that can be found along the 4.2 mile stretch of road.
Cirque di Soleil began entertaining on the Strip at the Mirage in 1992 and now has six different shows guests can experience. If magic is one’s desire, classic magicians David Copperfield performs at MGM Resorts International’s MGM (MGM) – Get Free Report Grand, fans can catch Penn & Teller at Caesars Entertainment’s The Rio, or Criss Angel can dazzle audiences at his Mindfreak at Planet Hollywood.
Variety of Entertainment Found on the Strip
Those who wish to travel back in time to the old days of Las Vegas can choose from about a couple dozen burlesque shows. Or maybe, instead of enjoying a meal at one of the many celebrity chef restaurants on the Strip, guests might take in a dinner show package, such as Tournament of Kings Dinner & Show at Excalibur or Vegas! The Show at Saxe Theater in Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
The Strip is also known for its various music residencies, as well. Katy Perry: Play at Resorts World has five shows scheduled in August, before coming back for a final 10 shows between Oct. 4 and Nov. 4 to conclude the “Roar” singer’s residency. Maroon 5’s MSLV The Residency appears for its final six shows at MGM Resorts International’s Dolby Live stage at Park MGM Las Vegas Aug. 4 through Aug. 12. Rock star Carlos Santana performs his An Intimate Evening With Santana: Greatest Hits Live residency at the House of Blues Mandalay Bay for eight shows Sept. 6 through Sept. 17 and another eight shows Nov. 1 through Nov. 12.
Classic performers from the 1960s and 70s are still around on the Strip as well, with Wayne Newton performing a long-running residency at Bugsy’s Cabaret Showroom at the Flamingo, and Barry Manilow singing at the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas, where he is set to break Elvis Presley’s record of 636 sold out shows at the venue on the weekend of Sept. 21-23. The hotel casino was originally called the International Hotel — which Elvis opened in 1969 — then it was the Las Vegas Hilton, and finally the Westgate.
